Holly + Alan | Kippure Estate, Manor Kilbride, Blessington, Co. Wicklow

I had photographed both Alan’s brothers weddings before so it was great to get the hat trick! As with most couples Alan and Holly came to me well over a year in advance of their wedding in Kippure Estate, we chatted about their plans for the day and how best to work out the timings etc. At this point of the conversation I heard the words which I hear quite often - “I hate having my picture taken! “.

Having explained that I like to shoot in a very relaxed manner with as little intervention as is possible and above all else to have fun while shooting, there was still a huge amount of hesitation. Then Holiy explained she had avoided all family photographs at all weddings and was completely allergic too cameras altogether!

We decided that the best way to handle this was to meet up in Kippure and do a trial run. I appreciate that some people just don’t like being the centre of attention (myself included) and hate the idea that the camera will be focused on them for the entire day. By the end of the session things had work out brilliantly and we were all delighted with the results. Everyone was at ease!

I think that sometimes people can over think the whole process and this leads too nervousness. The main job of any wedding photographer is to put people at ease so they can capture the real/true nature of the person they are photographing. Holly you were brilliant!! (Alan you were great too:)) It was a real pleasure working with you both and I think Holly, you really enjoyed the whole process at the end of the day?
